Overview

The Unicorn Adoption Website was created for IT371 Web Design and Development. The front end is written in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Whole-page dynamic content is rendered with JSP, with AJAX calls to a REST API to dynamically load baseball card elements.

On the back end, a MySQL database stores the site's information and Java with Jakarta EE serves the content. The application is written to be packaged as a WAR and run on a Tomcat server. Originally, the static content (landing page, about, static images) was served through an Apache server, and passed the dynamic content through to the Tomcat worker. The demo has moved this into a self-contained WAR for ease of packaging on this site.
